Live Tonight: Mahi Mahi, LLove, Team Robespierre

LLove

Remember electroclash? Those heady, pulsating months somewhere between ‘99 and 2002…those were the days. Oh wait, it kinda sucked! Well anyways, the spirit lives on in Providence at AS220 tonight: Our own electroclash O.G.’s Mahi Mahi bring it per usual, along with newbies LLove, who, despite be mired somewhere back in the early 00’s have a nice loose-limbed take on skronky, squelchy tech-house and 80’s electropop with a pretty decent sense of humor. (And who am I to judge, my band sounds like 1982.) They’ll both be up against Brooklyn’s technopunk multi-piece Team Robespierre in a 3-way irony deathmatch. Who will win? American Apparel.

I’ll slow it down for you: they sound like lots of bands and records that I’ve seen and heard and owned from 5 or 6 years ago, but their songs are interesting enough, I mostly like them, the lyrics are funny in places, and they have some loose, non-electronic qualities, kind of like a rock band, but they are mostly electronic. Is that okay? Or should I maybe draw something?

  3. I will take a guess and say yes you do have a sense of you. So since you offered yes, please draw something.
