WaterFire Volunteers WaterFire Providence seeks volunteers for their upcoming 2008 Season

Want to be part of the most exciting arts installation in Providence?!  You can help to inspire and transform our city as part of the WaterFire family. WaterFire Providence, the local non-profit organization which produces the popular sculpture installation by artist Barnaby Evans, is calling all people interested in a unique volunteering opportunity.  We welcome citizens from around the area to take an active role in the production of the world-renown art installation, WaterFire.

What does it take to be a WaterFire volunteer?
Anyone can be a WaterFire volunteer—the event thrives on individuals of all ages and with a varied background of skill sets. The most important and only qualification required is an   enthusiasm and willingness to learn and try new things,. There is truly is a place for everyone at WaterFire. So, if you are  looking for a new and exciting way to be involved in the Providence community WaterFire is the place for you!

Volunteers are an essential part of the entire event, getting involved in every angle;  greeting visitors along the river walkways, navigating the boats around the fires, placing logs onto the fires, and even helping to construct and decorate stages and reception spaces.  New volunteers must attend a Volunteer Orientation before participating at an event.  By attending a Volunteer Orientation newcomers will discover what it takes to create WaterFire from all perspectives, as well as meet with some of the most experienced WaterFire volunteers and hear their stories.  Orientations will run throughout the season starting April 9, 2008.  See WaterFire Providence’s website for updated scheduling, and to register as a volunteer on WaterFire’s Volunteer Website.

THE 2008 VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION SCHEDULE CONTINUES:
After the April 9, 2008 Volunteer Orientation, the next Orientation dates are as follows:  April 24, 2008, May 8, 2008, and May 28, 2008.  More dates to follow.  For more information, please visit www.waterfire.org
