… Where have you been? This is still going on!
Wintertime Farmers’ Market in Downtown Providence, every Saturday at AS220 from 12-3 pm.
A few of my favorite market items:
- Chocolate to-die from Ocean State Chocolate and Confections, especially the Sea Salt Caramel truffle.
- Any cheese from Narragansett Creamery, but especially “Patty Parker” a soft but sharp cheese named after the cheesemaker’s mom.
- Simmon’s Farm greens (Bok choi and spinach this week! It’s rumored that they’ll have organic, grass fed ground beef and pork this month.)
- The best grapefruits you’ll ever eat in your life, shipped up from a small farm in Vero, FL. (For real, I didn’t know grapefruits could be so delicious, and I’m from Florida!)
- Hot Pepper Jam from Marcia’s Chutneys, made by a woman who reminds me of my 2nd grade teacher.
- New Harvest (duh) Coffee is better than any coffee anywhere in the whole country.
- Maine-grown heirloom beans that you’ve never heard of before, but won’t forget after you eat them.
- A variety of bread from Olga’s Cup & Saucer.
Plus, apples from Hill Orchards and oysters from Matunuck Oyster Farm, if you are into that sort of thing.
Farm Fresh RI and 10 or so vendors will be rocking the hip local food movement here until late May, when we can finally head outdoors.
