Panel Discussion on Race and Incarceration

You are invited to a panel discussion entitled: “The Incarceration Rate for Males of Color In the State of Rhode Island,” hosted by the Rhode Island Young Professionals, taking place Thursday, March 20th, 2008 from 6:00PM and 9:00PM at Brown University’s MacMillan Auditorium, 167 Thayer Street.
This discussion is aimed at not only bringing more awareness to this issue, but at also instigating productive conversation around the factors contributing to this phenomenon as well as identifying what steps can be taken to help mitigate this problem. A well-rounded group of panelists participate in this discussion; include representatives from law enforcement, political, community development, religious and judicial backgrounds.
Panelist include: AT Wall, II is Director of the RI Department of Corrections, Judge William Clifton, Associate Justice of the Rhode Island District Court a designee of Col. Dean Esserman, Sol Rodriguez, Executive Director of the Family Life Center, Reverend Janice Thompson, Pastor of River of Life Church, State Representative; Steven M. Contantino, Chair of the Finance Committee, Event facilitated by Warren Simmons, Executive Director of the Annenberg Institute for School Reform , Opening Remarks by Glenn C. Loury Professor of the Social Sciences and Economics at Brown University.
High school and college students are encourage to attend. Feel free to invite other community groups and/or individuals to join you.
