Someone is counting down his list of the Top 100 Pop Songs of All Time. I’m not sure who, but I think it’s a teenaged Dutch boy. A teenaged boy because, I don’t know, I think that’s the demographic that usually makes top 100 lists like that, and I’m guessing Dutch because so far he’s listed two tracks by Shocking Blue and one by Teach-In (the Dutch group whose Eurovision-winning song I linked to just two days ago; btw check out this silly but delightful Edwyn Collins version I just found.)
His (or her) blog has only been around for about a week, but he’s already about two-thirds of the way through the list. Each song is presented with minimal commentary, mostly in the form of Youtube videos and not mp3s, but the song choices are kooky enough that I keep refreshing my page to see if he’s posted any more. (Which he hasn’t today, the rotten son of a gun.)
“Georgy Girl” is in the Top 40, with “Hair”, “Bang-A-Boomerang”, “Disco 2000″, and “Midnight Confessions” also on the list, not to mention lots of cheesy seventies pop-rock I never heard before yesterday. And while I don’t particularly care for “Dancing In The Street” or CCR’s version of “Proud Mary,” it’s an awesome list nonetheless.
