Okay, so I realize three posts in one week referencing the same cheesy song from 1975 is maybe a bit much.
BUT.
Sometimes when one’s obsessions come together unexpectedly, it’s better to run embrace it. Like how exciting it was when it turned out that Lemony Snicket hung out with Stephin Merritt, say.
So how delighted was I this morning to find out that the Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre went to the Netherlands just last week and made this video! The sock phenomenon, which I found out about just days ago thanks to the marvelously obsessive Eurocovers blog, crossed my path after learning the googly-eyed pair made an answer record (answer video?) to Dustin The Turkey.
One crazy Scottish man with two socks and a sheet, singing in falsetto, is something to behold, at least on Youtube. (I’m not so sure about how it is live, although it’s been at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.) Dinge Dong isn’t as good as, say, their cover of Stand By Your Man or Mystery Science Theater 3000-ish version of Suzanne, but it’s still enough to make one’s heart say ding dang dong.
