With Pterodactyl’s music, all the little parts and mechanisms are exposed; you can see the hinges, the joints, the little grinding gears, your face is right up close to the machine. Over jerky and over-animated drums they layer a choir of vocals that float and bob atop the clattering, clanging madness that drones on just below the surface. Guitars ping and chime, buzzing feedback cuts through of the sound-mist, and it’s all really pretty. It’s all very post-something. It’s post-music. Why, of course they’re from Brooklyn, you needed to ask? Find out exactly when they’re playing tonight because honestly the other bands are a joke. AS220, 9pm, $7

The other bands are a joke? What’s up with that? Baba Yaga and MC Subzero Permafrost ruled.
