New Music: Basia Bulat
10:48 am on May 19th, 2008 by Eric SmithAt DeVotchKa last night up at the Paradise in Boston we were very pleasantly surprised by the opener, Basia Bulat and her band. First of all, she’s pint-sized and has a voice as big as a truck; deep and country-bluesy, and her music is a fanciful blend of country waltzes, eastern European folk, and torchy piano melodrama. Definitely for fans of the aforementioned DeVotchKa, or Beirut, and anyone with taste. Check out the haunting “Little Waltz” here.
Update: DeVotchKa will be on Conan tonight, try to catch it.
