Finally.
The Hope High Farmers’ Market celebrates its official opening tomorrow.
Every Saturday, starting June 7th
9:30am-12:30pm
In front of Hope High School at Hope and Olney St. on the East Side.
What’s at this market? More after the jump.
This year, Arcadian Fields is back from sabbatical, come July we’ll be knee deep in Brandywines and Green Zebras. Wishing Stone Farm will be there with a line around the block. Plus Hill Orchard, Woodstock Farms, City Farm, Robin Hollow Farm, Cooks Valley Farm, and Bettencourt Farm.
Grab a coffee from the New Harvest Coffee Roasters tent and a scone from the folks at Seven Stars Bakery. Sample cheese at from the experts at Farmstead, and pick up scallops from Bomster Scallops for dinner. My favorite lady Marcia of Marcia’s Chutneys will be sampling her Rhode Island made jams, jellies, and chutneys
Also joining the regular roster is Narragansett Creamery, promising mozzarella, Pat’s Pastured Poultry, promising organic, free range chicken, Matunuck Oyster Farm, promising oysters, littlenecks, and lobster, and Barden Family Orchards, promising apples, peaches, plums, and raspberries.
Check the Farm Fresh RI Harvest Calendar before you go, so that you know what fruits and veggies you can find. Mostly greens and some herbs, lots of plant starts for now. In the next few weeks we’ll see squash, strawberries, blueberries, followed by peppers and tomatoes in July.
