Put on your sunscreen, drink lots of water, buy a popsicle, and take a free ride on any RIPTA bus today.
From the RIPTA site:
All RIPTA routes, excluding special services, will be free on Tuesday, June 10th, 2008.
The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management is predicting that air quality will reach unhealthy levels especially in western and southern Rhode Island, in the mid to late afternoon on Tuesday. A very hot and humid air mass is still present over the northeast, which means unhealthy air conditions will probably last until at least Wednesday.
Seriously, it’s really hot out there. Take the bus.

I have been riding for free for 3 days out of the last 4, and the only problem is that RIPTA seems to be trying to save money by only sort-of-maybe running the air conditioning. It’s a sweatlodge inside those things!
