Master of the lobster con, John P. Kluth Jr., is being sentenced today for his March conviction of robbing more than 30 people in cash, some for over five grand, with a combination of fake sad-sackery, seafaring hard luck and the usual lobster-based scams we read about almost daily to the point where there’s sure to be a ripped-from-the-headlines Law And Order episode about it next season. Wait, no? Well now at least I have a plot for my new lobster-con based crime thriller, Lobstertowne, featuring small-time seafaring detective and down-on-his-luck divorcee Rock Callaway who gets caught up in dark dealings when a beautiful co-ed’s body turns up strangled in a lobster trap on the 18th green of the state’s most exclusive country club. When a secret from Rock’s past turns up in the form of a bombshell ex-golf pro and daughter of a wealthy local lobster baron, will Rock be paid off to stay away from the gorgeous heiress? Or does he smell something…fishy?
