Lack of good affordable public transportation is a major problem and isn't being addressed. My kids went to Providence public schools-one became highly educated,the other not.You get out of the education system what you put into it. I am an NRA member and have been armed since I was 18(I'm 62),but I have a real problem with minors getting access to handguns(except on a range)-I wonder how these kids came by that firearm.Did an adult in the home leave it around?That is a problem.I doubt any one of the perpetrators in the 35 shootings in Providence this year(up 100% since last year Mr.Mayor)bothered to fill out the paperwork or wait 7 days to pick up their firearms from legitimate dealers.Yet that is where the "progressive"legislators concentrate their efforts-dumb,no? I don't know how I would react if I was growing up with few options and then the few options I had were cut again and again and again. Want to get a job, but can't get a good education. Want to get to the job but can't afford gas. Want to get a job but can't afford childcare AND working. No more health care, no more heating assistance and guess what, I still need to make it on just $7.49 an hour. The legislators who made these cuts are the criminals. So sad.
