One More Reason To Be Glad You Don’t Live In Boston

BY Matthew Lawrence

Untitled I’m not sure how you guys feel about Magic 106.7, Boston’s adult contemporary radio station. You know, the one that’s mainly notable for having Teri Garr in its old TV ads and for still having songs from the freaking Duets soundtrack on its playlist.

I do, however, know how this guy feels.

Calling himself Earnest Sludge, he blogs about how much he hates the station as often as ten times a day, and has been for about five months now. In fact it’s taken over all of his posts about Asian restaurants and Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

After the jump, some highlights:

March 18th:

People who listen to Magic 106.7 are shitheads, aren’t they?

I’ll have to make a point of shitting on pop stars in my blog from now on. Usually I don’t waste my breath. I’ve thought for some time now that evil creeps like Rod Stewart, Elton John and Phil Collins should be hunted down and subjected to medieval tortures until dead. How’s that, Jupiter? Still reading my train wreck of a life?

Byyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

April 18th:

Guys, you’re never gonna believe this, I just had the honor of over-hearing the boisterous conversation of Red Sox player Sean Casey with his cousin while eating lunch at the Thai Dish restaurant in Kenmore Square!!! Isn’t that amazing!?!? I was tempted to walk over to their table after having to endure for about 20 minutes their loud-mouth braying (mostly by the cousin) about what masters of the universe they were, and going over and yelling, “RED SOX SUCK SHIT! GO FUCKING DIE! FUCK YOU! EAT SHIT!” I have to admit I wasn’t sorely tempted, but the thought did flit through my mind briefly.

Otherwise the meal was pretty good. It was nice and dark and cool there (it’s a below-street-level basement) and the music on the PA was a pretty mellow, pleasant, sexy young female bossa nova crooner/whisperer. That last being an excellent change from the everlasting Magic 106.7…

May 1st:

I was dead tired yesterday and I just wanted to eat a quiet meal at the Pad Thai. Some little Berklee prick was in a booth talking to one of his cool buddies in a very agitated manner. Happily agitated, but very forceful and it carried all over the restaurant. I initially was in the next booth but I had to move to get further away from him. This is the second day in a row that an agitated Berklee kid has ruined my meal. The say before it was at the Bombay Cafe. Guess I gotta stop eating at those two places. Fucked up little shits. These are the little assholes that help crank out all that shitty pop music we’re constantly innundated by. Speaking of which, the girls at the Pad Thai last night had Magic 106.7 turned way down, which was nice. I did hear John Lennon’s odious Imagine, though. Shootin’ was too good for that Leftist dipshit.

And, my personal favorite, from June 30th:

Carole King feels ‘the earth move under my feet, I feel the sky tum-boll-in’ down, a-tom-boll-in’ down’

What’s she talkin’ about!? Sounds like she getting her ashes hauled! Man, that’s hot! Makes me want to run off to the nearest men’s room for a quick little game of pocket pool, if you know what I mean (wink wink, nudge nudge).

This shit song is another favorite on MOLOCH (aka Magic) 106.7, I believe. Heard it on a PA the other day walking through town and just assumed it was MOLOCH 106.7 that was pumping this musical sewage out.

(Thanks to Ethan for pointing this blog out to me weeks and weeks ago.)
