. . . according to the opinion makers at the East Providence Republican City Committee. The vote results have the Don whooping the closest likely VP candidate (Brown U’s own Bobby Jindal) by almost 30 points.
45% - Gov. Donald Carcieri (Rhode Island)*
16% - Gov. Bobby Jindal (Louisiana)
11% - Gov. Mitt Romney (Massachusetts)
11% - Gov. Mike Huckabee (Arkansas)
8% - Gov. Charlie Crist (Florida)
8% - Dave Talan (Rhode Island)*
1% - Gov. Sarah Palin (Alaska)
* The personal appearance of the two Rhode Islanders may have had some effect on the results.
Granted, this vote was a straw poll, which means people pay to vote, and can purchase multiple votes. Kudos to the EPGOP for following the SCOTUS’s lead in its effort to reinstitute the poll tax.

Desperately seeking Sarah
Americans need a little Palin Power
Sarah Palin the current Governor of Alaska is John McCain’s ultimate choice for VP. I do believe a woman is next in line for the presidency. All Conservatives like her. She is popular in Alaska. Hillary supporters would relish her. She would solidify a 12 or possibly 16 year Republican executive.
John McCain’s boring campaign is wearing thin. I need a little Palin Power to get me interested again. They would say ‘but she is only a half term Governor!’ And your point is?”

If John McCain doesn’t choose Sarah Palin, he might have to plead temporary insanity.

Bill M. Says:
As crazy as Carcieri for VP seems, I could actually see it. He’s totally safe.
How funny would it be if it was Obama/Reed vs. McCain/Carcieri???
Bill Rappleye and Charlie Bakst’s heads would explode. LOL

Annie Says:
I have to agree with Bill; I could envision Carceiri for VP. Although I don’t agree with Carcieri’s actions and ideas any more than I agree with McCain’s, his policies wouldn’t be viewed as outlandish or outrageous to conservative voters.
And I grudgingly admit that in person he is extremely intelligent and has a great sense of humor. McCain could do worse.

Thanks for the write-up. We actually did have a means for people to vote for Hillary Clinton, too. Alas, she did not even receive 1 vote at our straw poll (neither did Ron Paul).
Actually, many of us think getting The Don as VP would be great. It would shore up McCain’s weaknesses on the illegals issue, private sector experience, friends with money, blue state governor, ethnic, catholic, relative youth, personality, etc. Of course, we know he’s partial to Romney getting the VP slot (which I personally think is the most likely). Yeah, let’s hand it over to Liz for a year, and after that disaster, the people will be begging to be rescued by Future Governor Steve Laffey.
PS Hmm. A poll tax. Could help the GOP, right? Thanks for the idea!
