Sounds about right to me, and with the meal and beverage tax as one of the city’s few non-property tax revenue streams, it has an extra incentive to push for more and more dining.
CONSULTANTS and engineers are working on a strategy for the area outside the Providence Performing Arts Center, or so I’ve heard. I don’t know what the strategy will be, only what it should be. I can sum it up in two words:
Outdoor cafés.
(Though this time of year, it’s just so damn easy to forget about New England winters.)
