Today’s the sixty-first birthday of one of my favorite singers of the sixties, France Gall. To celebrate, here’s her biggest hit, the Serge Gainsbourg-written Poupee de cire, poupee de son. Later covered live by Belle and Sebastian and the Arcade Fire, the song came in second at the 1965 Eurovision Song Contest. Her other songs have been done, usually really well, by groups like Heavenly (Nous ne sommes pas des anges), The Delgados (Sacre Charlemagne), Free Kitten (Teenie Weenie Boppie), and April March (most of her catalog).

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. You have THE best taste in web junk, Matt. How come you’re basically the only one posting lately?

That is exactly why, Matt, but you only have me by a narrow margin.
