Tomorrow, or probably today by the time you read this, marks the deadline for the first-ever Not About The Buildings Fiction Prize. Honoring the best in short story writing, the contest is open to anyone and everyone with an eye for a good story. But again, the deadline is TODAY, which means you’ll be wanting to send your 5000-word-or-less entries by e-mail to notaboutthebuildings@gmail.com
Mailed-in entries won’t be accepted after today, so don’t use the mail!
Winning stories will be published in a limited edition hand-letterpressed chapbook and sold around town for the holidays. Rules and restrictions can be found at notaboutthebuildings.com The winning author, in addition to (possible) fame and attention, will also probably be the recipient of invitations to the best parties.
[ps--Full disclosure: I run Not About The Buildings. I'm not judging the contest, though; Rachel Cohn is. Rachel's the author of fabulous, fabulous teen novels like Shrimp and Pop Princess and You Know Where To Find Me and, with David Levithan, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. Which, by the way, is a totally awesome movie. Seriously. It makes Woody Allen look like somebody who's never seen New York before.]
