Tonight’s Action Speaks ought to be a good one: it’s a discussion of African-American filmmaker Oscar Micheaux, who was making black movies in the south back in the twenties. On hand to talk about Micheaux and his achievements wills be local filmmaker Don Mays, Yale film professor Terri Francis, and Charles Musser, who wrote a book called Oscar Micheaux and His Circle: African American Filmmaking and Race Cinema of the Silent Era.
And, as a bonus, you get to watch all this unfold while sitting beneath Michael Kurt’s illustrations of naked dudes, including a totally disturbing self-portrait diptych of Kurt as a two-year old glancing down at his own genital piercings.
