God damn you, cable, why can’t I afford you?! Oh, right, I don’t work. Anyway, this Wednesday on the Sundance Channel is the debut of “Spectacle: Elvis Costello With…,” and then they fill in the blank with notables like Lou Reed, Tony Bennet, Rufus Wainwright and even Bill Clinton. Costello is incredibly funny, smart and completely adept at this sort of thing, as anyone who has seen him host Letterman back in 2003 or his appearances on The Simpsons and other stuff can attest. From the NYTimes:
Mr. Costello came up with the name of the show and was particular about its look. “It’s not overlit,” he said. “That’s always bugged me about television. You feel like meat in a butcher’s.”
If anyone out there has Sundance, Tivo this for me and I’ll bring over some Guinness.

so, I just watched Elvis Costello with Elton John (on demand, in high def) which I guess is the first episode. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t hold my attention (not much does with 2 kids). You’re welcome to come over and watch it - even though I have no clue who you are though I’m sure I see you everywhere.
