Some choices are hard to make. We wish we were seeing Chris O’Brien tonight, but we’re just too big fans of Ellis Paul to miss his MA show. So I leave it to you to brave the snowstorm for great folk music. Chris, who was taught his first chords by Dar Williams, brings beatifully mellow tunes and a Damien Rice-like voice to Pawtucket’s Stone Soup Coffeehouse.
The duo/sometimes trio We’re About 9 opens, and critics have had great things to say about their wonderful harmonies and songwriting (let me know how they are). And some nice ladies will sell you baked goods/drinks at intermission. Don’t spill crumbs.
Tonight (Saturday), St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 50 Park Place, Patwucket; 8 p.m., $15
