When you get a minute and want to be depressed check out Forgotten Providence, a photo blog dedicated to foreclosed homes in the area. It’s pretty neat, albeit depressing when you consider the simultaneous increases in foreclosures and homelessness. There’s an estimated 750 vacant homes in the city–and that’s the mayor’s estimate, so you can bet it’s actually higher than that–and so far 45 of them are on the site.

Here’s an interesting if not entirely legal approach to the homelessness/foreclosure situation.
Or there’s the best meme I’ve taken away from the whole Creative Providence thing: Squat-to-Own.

Thanks for publicizing this site. I hadn’t seen it before, but it’s sure needed.
