National Park Service Meeting Tonight

10:16AM ON 12/09/2009
BY Daily Dose

Jennifer Gonsalves Reminder — Roger Williams National Memorial Site Manager Jennifer Gonsalves invites the public for comment on future plans for the historic site, located between Canal and North Main at Smith Street. She will discuss the findings of a recent study performed for the National Park Service according to which,

. . . none of the resources at the park have national significance and the overgrown landscaping detracts from the area’s historic character. The report recommends creation of a new visitor center, new landscaping and possibly expansion of the memorial. (ProJo)

I don’t know about the ‘new visitor center’ part — that’s a charming old building — and the mature trees should be left alone. But that’s what the meeting is for. We already wrote all about this, go here.

Meeting Wednesday, 4pm to 6:30pm, Old State House, 150 Benefit Street
