(2.21) The Providence Preservation Society hosts a lecture and book-signing by architectural illustrator Joe McKendry tonight at Lippitt House. This is free for students and PPS members.
In 2012, McKendry published a beautiful new book on the history of New York’s most famous intersection, “One Times Square: A Century of Change at the Crossroads of the World.”
McKendry will discuss this book along with his earlier work, including renderings of the Turks Head Building, Friedrich St. Florian’s WWII Memorial in Washington DC, and his 2005 book, “Beneath the Streets of Boston: Building America’s First Subway.”
Students free, $10 for non-members, reception 5:30pm, presentation 6pm, Thursday, February 21, Lippitt House, 199 Hope Street (directions), on-street parking
