Coming up at the Gamm: The Real Thing by Tom Stoppard, directed by Fred Sullivan, Jr.
Charlotte (Marianna Bassham), an actress, is appearing in a play about marriage written by her cerebral playwright husband, Henry (Tony Estrella). Max (Tom Gleadow), her leading man, is also married to an actress, Annie (Jeanine Kane). Both marriages are on the verge of a breakdown because Henry and Annie have fallen in love. But there’s a question not even Henry can answer: Is it the real thing?
This award winning play, by the author of such masterworks as Rock ‘n’ Roll, Arcadia, and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, combines the playwright’s brilliant wordplay and wit with poignant insights about the natureand mystery of love, commitment and authenticity.
Tickets $26 for previews; $36, $45 regular run. Photo of Tony Estrella as Henry by Peter Goldberg.
