An excellent editorial in the Providence Journal considers the ramifications of the recent scandal at the Department of Veterans Affairs in which government bureaucrats manipulated schedules denying veterans urgently needed medical care.

As a result, it appears, some of those veterans we mourn on Memorial Day are people who might still be alive had they received prompt medical attention.
