Waterman St. Dog Park
Those getting on and off the Henderson Bridge have probably noticed the new fencing and landscaping activity where the ramps divide — this will be the new Waterman St. Dog Park. According to the website plans include:
- 2 ½ acres of fenced park
- Water fountain for thirsty dogs
- Fenced area for small dogs only
- Agility & play structures
With the support of neighbors at Richmond Square, the Dog Park Association has succeeded in moving the parking to the left hand side of Waterman Street. With the new parking arrangement, families who choose to drive will no longer have to walk their dogs across a street where traffic often moves quite quickly. It will make the park easier to access, prevent disruption of traffic flow and reduce the risk of traffic accidents.
It has also been reported that goats are to be brought in this spring for some natural brush clearing. That should slow the traffic down a bit. The Dog Park Association meets monthly at Books on the Square. Go to the website, or write firstname.lastname@example.org, to join up. They are organizing a work day — marking trails, spreading wood chips — at the park site scheduled for March 19th, 10 am to 4pm. (Facebook)
