Food Truck Friday & ‘In The Heart Of The Sea’ At RWP
(8.26) ‘Movies in the Park’ is back this month with “In the Heart of the Sea” this Friday at 8pm on the Boathouse Lawn.
Set in 1829, crewmen aboard the New England vessel Essex face a harrowing battle for survival when a whale of mammoth size and strength attacks with force, crippling their ship and leaving them adrift in the ocean. Pushed to their limits and facing storms, starvation, panic and despair, the survivors must resort to the unthinkable to stay alive. Their incredible tale ultimately inspires author Herman Melville to write Moby-Dick.
Admission is free and there will be plenty of popcorn. Get comfortable on a blanket or your favorite lawn chair. The flick is paired with Food Truck Fridays at Carousel Village. So come for the food and stay for the movie.
Next up will be “Despicable Me” on September 30. ‘Movies in the Park’ is just one of a series of activities the Rhode Island Foundation has planned in Roger Williams Park to celebrate its 100th anniversary. Check out the calendar.
Free, 8pm, Friday, August 26, Roger Williams Park, 1000 Elmwood Avenue, (directions)
