Free Admission To RWP Zoo Thru December
Walking around the zoo without all those pesky kids in the way can be fun and several of the animals are famously cold-loving. Unfortunately the moon bears and red pandas were laying low today. The cheetahs on the other hand were putting on a show. Some were sunning themselves while others paced the perimeter eyeing the yummy zebras next door. The accompanying exhibit text tells us that cheetahs like to eat small to mid-sized ungulates, especially gazelles. (Who doesn’t like a good gazelle?)
The camels were hanging out as were the Red River hogs. The river otters were frolicking and going mental . . . impossible to photograph. And you can warm up with the giraffes or the tree kangaroos who are kept indoors.
This month the zoo will be open every day from 10am to 4pm. (Last admission 3:30pm). They are closed December 24 and 25. “We hope you will consider donating a non-perishable food item and article of warm clothing as you enter the Zoo.” Admission to the zoo is free for the rest of the month. It’s a great walk.
