Children’s Film Festival Starts
The 2017 Providence Children’s Film Festival kicks off Friday with an Opening Night Party at the RISD Museum’s Metcalf Auditorium. This ticketed event will begin at 5:30pm with treats and beverages. Following the reception, guests will enjoy a 30-minute screening of Short ‘n Sweet Shorts, international PCFF-curated short films for children of all ages. At 7:30pm, watch the claymation film (seen here), My Life As A Zucchini, Academy Award nominee for ‘Best Animation.’
The annual Providence Children’s Film Festival takes place in February at multiple venues within walking distance of downtown Providence, with over ten days of screenings, filmmaking workshops, and free activities, along with post-film conversations that help deepen the film-watching experience and foster critical thinking skills. During the festival, PCFF screens an average of 18 feature-length and over 100 short films—including live-action, documentary, and animation—made by filmmakers from around the world.
Venues include Metcalf Auditorium, Gilder Center, RISD Auditorium, and the Avon Cinema. Go here for Film Directory. Festival ends on Sunday, February 26, at the RISD Auditorium with screening of Willie Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (which also screens February 18 at the Avon).
