Pete Davidson At RIC
(3.16) SNL regular Pete Davidson will bring his stand-up to Rhode Island College this Thursday. He is the vulnerable, baby-faced cutie who dishes up hard truths and goofy insights in equal proportion.
Davidson has certainly earned that vulnerability; he was seven-years-old when his father, a NYC firefighter, died at the World Trade Center. Still, he hasn’t shied away from referring to this tragedy in his act, more by way of conveying how strange his childhood has been compared to almost everybody else on the planet. (His mom said it was okay. ) Last September Pete paid tribute to his dad on the 15th anniversary of the event, sharing his thoughts and some personal pictures on Instagram.
This week he did a great bit on Weekend Update, sorting out his first impressions of the Trump administration and its apologists, in the process sharing that he had quit drinking, etc. (Hey Pete, enjoy your newfound clarity . . . and by clarity I mean boners! SNL 3.11.17)
I saw Kate McKinnon in this venue. The students did a good job (which for me always means the microphone works). The parking was easy and the auditorium was full of college students ready to have a good time.
Tickets are still available. $10 for RIC students. $15 for non-RIC students
