It’s time again for the famous Pub Quiz at the
Wild Colonial. Teams can be from one to four people, no pre-registration required, just show up. Categories usually include current events, local trivia, maybe history or sports, and often some idiosyncratic or seasonal questions. And the 80’s rear their ugly head with some frequency. It always ends with a music category (12 or more audio clips) which will often hew to a theme that has been developed by the hilarious quiz masters. There are prizes for win, place and show. I don’t know what the prizes will be tonight, but the people over at
Narragansett Beer have been coming up with some cool stuff lately. The artwork on their merch is a cut above the rest and they actually make T-shirts for the moderately-sized human (a.k.a. Europeans) as well as standard American (XXXXXXXL). So here is the free publicity that such promotional items are supposed to produce — happy to do it.
starts 8PM/Wild Colonial Tavern/250 South Water St./621-5644/wheelchair accessible
Okay everybody, so there is a lot going on tonight that discerning listeners will want to take part in.

Yes, there are many claims on your time this evening. It is Father’s Day of course, but frankly, the average quiz-male seems barely capable of growing a beard much less fathering a child, so that shouldn’t be an issue. Also, what will Mo have on the telly tonight? The Celtics, being Irish-ish, certainly have a huge claim on Mo’s allegiance, but the theater people at Pub Quiz form a large and loyal customer constituency and may demand that he tune in ‘The Tonys’.
I’m gonna go out on limb and predict that the Celtics fans will overpower the Tony people. Game on.
Then this is probably what your friends saw — the Fight Face.
We don’t have any hard demographic data on our male readership, but I’m guessing we don’t have a lot of lumberjacks logging on. In general, I think we appeal to the lovers (noodle-shaped hipsters) not the fighters (you know… men). But sometimes a guy will just be in the wrong place at the wrong time and find himself face down on the floor of the club. Here’s how to get up.
Street Boners and TV Carnage has the eight futile stages of dignity retrieval.
the co-ed fight club for girls return (again) to e&o monday, june 9th, 8pm-12am for yet another brutal night of biceps, bruises and beer. i’m pretty sure there’ll be free food, new faces, ridonk sweatsuits, and possibly the world premiere of CFCFG’s very own potentially embarrassing/undoubtedly outrageous dance party workout music video party party party dance video.
so stop watching the wire for a couple hours and COME THRU!!!!!!!

It’s best to know a little bit about a lot of things if you want to finish in the money (and by money I mean t-shirts and glasses) at the famous
Wild Colonial Pub Quiz. Come tonight and test your broad-but-superficial knowledge against other savants and know-it-alls. Yup, despite the holiday, it’s on. And if your mom don’t like it, tell her you hope to win her a real nice present (it helps if she’s a size XXXXL and likes Jose Cuervo). Form a team of one to four people who have a wide range of interests — good friends who will forgive you when you confidently talk them out of the correct answer. There will be several categories such as; current events, maybe sports, music (audible), maybe history or movies, and perhaps… tonight… mothers!
Starts at 8PM/The Wild Colonial Tavern/250 South Water Street/621-5644
Shown here is the MRI of a contestant who has just won a free plate of nachos at the
Wild Colonial pub quiz (all lit up is the lateral frito-lobe, tucked just below the medulla con cheso). In addition to the prizes awarded for win, place and show in the regular quiz, there is always an extra nacho question. Just drop in and form your own team — from one to four people — the rules are explained as you go along. (If you can’t even figure out how to play, you are probably in over your head.) Cool prizes, great beer on tap, and a mirror in the ladies’ room.

We’ve mentioned this before, but it’s a good thing and it involves booze, so!
Drinking Liberally’s philosophy is Promoting democracy, one pint at time, and that’s a thing that we can all get behind. Started in New York City in 2003, it was originally one-part support group and one-part strategy session and naturally, when the first buttons were made they decided to go national. The Providence group meets at the Wild Colonial tonight at 8pm, and is hosted by such local New Media® luminaries as Kim Ahern and Matt Jerzyk. All are welcome!
Tonight at the
Blackstone Club, now located in the Hope Village Complex in Pawtucket, is a special Earth Day celebration with some great live music. You spent all day shopping for vinyl, now go out and hear the real deal. Hey, Rash of Stabbings is back, and I have been personally assured that there will be a full compliment of
‘mericans, all plugged-in and ready to blow a new hole in the ozone layer.
music starts @ 8PM/$7/1005 Main Street/Pawtucket/726-2181/21+
Yup, it’s already two weeks later. Tonight is the Pub Quiz at the
Wild Colonial. The quiz-masters will ask 6 questions in each of a variety of categories like current events, maybe history, maybe sports… or maybe a completely idiosyncratic made-up crazy topic. There is always a visual hand-out and the final music category will consist of 12 audio bites. Teams are up to four people, and it’s explained as you go along. Except for the occasional stray dart it’s a real good time. Cool prizes, good beer on tap, and there is a mirror in the ladies’ room.

Ties for first place are settled by arm-wrestling…seriously!
I was told that RiRa has had the market on Tuesday nights for 8 years – 7 of which, the lovely Kimberly Nelson has been at the helm – and “if someone wants to get all fussy because some other bars have scheduled theirs on Tuesdays…well, I don’t know…they can be banished to Musak round hell! You don’t need to quote me on that. But you can say something about how witty and pretty the host is ;)”
Tonight is Pub Quiz at the
Wild Colonial. It starts at 8:00PM and you can just show up. Teams are up to four people and the rules and instructions are explained as you go. Cool prizes.

As someone who was voted ‘most likely to twist her ankle’ in high school I can’t identify with this activity at all. I have been known to injure myself squeezing out a sponge. This morning’s
ProJo has an article about the
Co-ed Fight Club for Girls at the E&O Tap. (Unfortunately Monday is my Scrabble night and on Thursdays I have to sit on my couch.) The hard copy has a great photo of artist Josie Morway… maybe these are her feet… as well as other great pix inside. I just want to get this link up. Other dosers may want to elaborate but are not famous for getting up early on Sundays.
