As someone who was voted ‘most likely to twist her ankle’ in high school I can’t identify with this activity at all. I have been known to injure myself squeezing out a sponge. This morning’s ProJo has an article about the Co-ed Fight Club for Girls at the E&O Tap. (Unfortunately Monday is my Scrabble night and on Thursdays I have to sit on my couch.) The hard copy has a great photo of artist Josie Morway… maybe these are her feet… as well as other great pix inside. I just want to get this link up. Other dosers may want to elaborate but are not famous for getting up early on Sundays.

Well that was fast! News of the former coke den-turned-just-plain-den’s closure came to me last night from a few of the guys who worked with me there and the official word was spread today via Myspace: “Sorry to inform you that the bar is closed for now…” I will fondly remember these past 8 Thursdays of over-pouring, over-sharing, and pretending I know how to make White Russians. Those Bloody Marys were pretty good though, right Shar?

From Kim Nelson:
Hey there-
How do I get someone to post about Trivia Night at RiRa? Tuesday nights 8:30. It’s the best way to spend a Tuesday evening! Full disclosure: I’m the host.
Thanks!
Why the hell don’t all you quizmasters hold events on different nights of the week?
Also, the Daily Dose team needs to watch more Jack Nicholson movies if it ever wants to win that Trinity growler.

Tucker’s at Trinity Brew House at 8.
And more evidence that Terry desperately misses his gig at the GCB: He’s now hosting Tuesday trivia nights at Blue State Coffee — 300 Thayer St.

This bar crawl appears to be working its way west. I caught up with it in a place that shall remain nameless because they refuse to remove the big Christmas wreath from the front window! (It’s St. Patrick’s Day ferchrissake.) At any rate, this crew is to be commended for not driving today. And they were really nice to me.

Just had a great liquid lunch at E&O; a black & tan, some Bailey’s and coffee, plus they just loaded in the corned beef, cabbage and potatoes and it smells amazing. Get there asap, it’s $5 all you can eat and you get a pint of Hibernia with it. Yep. BTW, Hibernia was the ancient Greek name for Ireland. Thank you Wikipedia.

It’s Clobberin’ Time

Eric Smith
From a source deep inside this elite unit:
“Tonight, the Coed Fight Club for Girls converts E&O Tap into Providence’s only Feats of Strength sideshow, as they host the First Annual Strongest Girl in the Room contest. Starting at 8 pm, marvel as the area’s toughest ladies perform mindbending displays of physical prowess. Witness the carnage as they arm wrestle, thumb wrestle, and just plain regular wrestle for the right to declare themselves the Room’s Strongest Girl. Participate in these and other events: including large-man piggyback races, chicken fights, and a night-closing bodybuilding pageant. Bring your own heavy object and get a free shot.” E&O Tap, tonight, leave your fear at the door.
