Wayland Square now has its very own Blaz! You think the baby giraffe is cute. . . go check out this guy. We’re a bit late on this one, but head on over right now and get to know this thoughtful, energetic and honest candidate for State Representative in House District Two. And introduce yourself to his excellent wife Ami (second from left) while you are at it. Rhode Island’s Future has a write-up — Mr. Jerzyk makes a good point about the location of the new campaign headquarters.
The campaign’s presence near the Henderson Bridge, which unites Providence and East Providence, reflects Blazejewski’s efforts to bring the district together and build a wide-ranging coalition of supporters on both sides of the river.

Host (and candidate for Representative of RI House District Two) Chris Blazejewski invites everyone to another episode of Drinking Liberally.
On Wednesday, July 7 Drinking Liberally will host the fourth part of its ‘Countdown to Election Day 2010′ series for the First Congressional District with special guest host Anthony Gemma.
Yes folks, despite the fact that we have a dog in this race, we support Mr. Blazejewski in his efforts to generate a more vibrant political scene (and holding these events in a location that doesn’t make it seem like a chore). We all benefit from a well-informed and engaged electorate, and you can have a beer and meet interesting people. So learn about all the candidates. . . make up your own mind. . . and then vote for Dave.
Tonight’s hosts will be Chris Blazejewski, Meghan Grady, Matt Jerzyk, Ami Gada, Jenna Lafayette, and Johnathan Berard. More info at FB.
Free, 8pm, Wednesday, Wild Colonial Tavern, 250 South Water Street, air conditioning

Meet community activist and attorney Chris Blazejewski and show your support for his bid to represent District Two in the Rhode Island General Assembly. He recently received the endorsement of David Segal, the man he hopes to replace, and the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 328.
“I am proud to have the support of Representative Segal, an inspiring leader and tireless progressive champion who has spent years fighting to improve the lives of the people of Rhode Island. I look forward to the opportunity to serve the district and be a strong, independent voice in the State House.”
“Chris has the full support of Local 328,” said Local 328 Secretary-Treasurer James P. Riley. “He understands our priorities: improving the economy, creating jobs, and putting working families first. I am confident he will fight for these priorities at the State House.”
Blaz is young, honest and energetic, and committed to making things better for his district in particular and Rhode Island in general. (Read his bio here.) Among other things, he is one of the co-founders of Drinking Liberally, so of course he will be launching what promises to be a long and illustrious political career at the Wild Colonial! Be there at the beginning!
Thursday, 7pm to 9pm, Wild Colonial Tavern, 250 South Water Street, rsvp FB, a donation of $50, $25 is suggested

Good News For RI District Two

Is it written somewhere in the Rhode Island constitution that the District Two Representative must be a handsome, smart guy? No sooner has Mr. Segal announced his plans to leave the seat, than Christopher Blazejewski declares his intention to run for it. Of course brains and integrity matter most, but Mr. B.’s appearance does not work against him. Chris is known to many for hosting the Drinking Liberally meet-the-candidate events at the Wild Colonial Tavern — he really loves this stuff. He’s energetic and smart and can see a better future for our struggling little state. I worked with Chris and his fantastic wife Ami on Mr. Segal’s most recent campaign, and they are the real deal. I find it encouraging that people of this quality are willing to throw themselves into the fray. Please go to R.I.’s Future and read Brian Hull’s much better write-up of Chris Blazejewski’s many qualifications and accomplishments.

To say that this is an interesting election year in Rhode Island is an understatement. If you’ve tried to update out-of-state friends recently you know how hard it is to recap the shake-up. Drinking Liberally is helping you meet the candidates in an environment particularly conducive to lively discourse (or making a complete ass of yourself, your choice).
On Wednesday, starting at 9pm at the Wild Colonial Tavern, Drinking Liberally will host the second part of its ‘Countdown to Election Day 2010′ series for the FIRST CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT with special guest host Providence Mayor DAVID CICILLINE.
Drinking Liberally is a national progressive social group that gives like-minded, left-leaning individuals a place to gather, exchange ideas, and get involved. The hosts of Drinking Liberally are Chris Blazejewski, Meghan Grady, Matt Jerzyk, Ami Gada, Jenna Lafayette, and Johnathan Berard.
Free, Wednesday, 9pm, Wild Colonial, 250 South Water Street, more info at Facebook

Chris Blazejewski, the guy who is single-handedly redeeming the tarnished reputation of Harvard (see: Bush, George W., MBA), invites everyone to meet gubernatorial candidate, and your host for the evening, Lincoln Chafee. And it’s at the Wild Colonial where you might enjoy going anyway. . . lotsa of beer on tap, view of the river, darts. No wait — politics, beer and darts? Hide the darts. This is the first of the three-part countdown to Election 2010 brought to you by Drinking Liberally, with Caprio and Lynch to follow. But speaking strictly for myself, this is my guy.
8pm to 10pm, Wednesday, Wild Colonial Tavern, 250 South Water Street, wheelchair accessible, plenty of parking
