It’s Saturday, September 27th! Print Lottery is tonight, 7-10pm @ 115 Empire St. (AS220). I keep promising cake, and that keeps being a lie. But FOR REAL this time, there’s gonna be like, 200 cupcakes and a bunch of wicked awesome vegan cookies, I SWEAR TO YOU. Not to mention, 200+ prints, 200+ artists, 200+ WINNERS!!!!! If you haven’t already bought your ticket, you MAY be shit out of luck but there also MAY be a couple tickets sold at the door so GET THERE EARLY and bring $75!!! Or just show up for the hell of it, it’s going to be a total shit show!
If you can’t buy a ticket, THAT’S COOL, drink Narragansett at the bar tonight and all profits go to the printshop!

OH MAN this month is BUMPING, if you missed the free open workshop last saturday you totally missed out, and it’s probably my fault for forgetting to post it…

BUT ANYWAY, THIS Saturday, September 20th @ 6:30 there will be two amazing guest lectures starring Gretchen Wagner, curatorial assistant for the museum of modern art (MOMA!)’s department of prints & illustrated books and printmaker/educator (associate professor in the printmaking dept. at RISD) Mr. Andrew Raftery!

This is part of the AS220 community printshop’s one-year anniversary celebration!! The event is totally free and EVERYBODY IS WELCOME!!!

It’ll take place at AS220’s performance space (115 Empire St. Providence, RI 02903) @ 6:30 on september 20th, 2008 (to be intentionally redundant)!  For a slightly more detailed & coherent official press-release sort of situation, see the printshop website.

ALSO DON’T FORGET to buy your ticket for the print lottery before they run out!!!!!! tickets are $75, all proceeds benefit the printshop, and EVERY TICKET is guaranteed a print! You can buy tickets online here or at the bar at 115 empire st. from 5pm-1am! and to see all the prints you COULD win, stop by 115 empire st. and check out the show that’s up in the performance space from now til sept 27th!!!!!!

so, ok. Print month at AS220; it’s actually more like printmake month, printmaking month, printshop month, printlotto month, raisefundsforyourlocalnonprofitcommunityprintshopmonth. anyway, we’ve got a lot going on. there are some SERIOUSLY brutal events this month, all of which are pretty much free, so keep your eyes peeled. here is some info below, and i’ll be sure to keep you informed.

fundraising event for as220 community printshop!), which involves FREE
brunchy-type food items (like, HELLO, vegan LENTIL SOUP not brunchy
more lunchy but whatevs, free COFFEE i’m gonna drink it all so watch
out BAGELS which are hard to come by i hear and really brutal PANCAKES
personally flipped by yours truly that may or may not be gluten free
just to keep it alt-lyfe u know; anyway) and besides all the free
food, bring your dolla$$$$ ‘cuz we going to have a wicked cheap print
sale (some nice prints&posters from $3-$15!!!!!!!!!!!) AND a RAFFLE
(raffle is the new keg party) for a print and a fish pillow (which
bleeds authentic fire). it’s going to be really special (friends).

DECEMBER 2007!!! The brutal month before JANUARY 2008, horrifying!!!!! The print shop still breathes, heavy, thirsting for new friends and classmates. Clawing through the ink-soaked rags of downtown Providence, drooling education and reeking of a strange allure, a distorted, musky scent, familiar and yet distant, the indescribable waft of learning and fun, disgusting yet delicious. What fate will the print shop hold?? What crusty tears have dried on thine eyes of lead?
Located at 95 Mathewson street, two floors above the darkened hallows of Local 121 in the castle Dreyfus, the print shop lays in patient wait. Wait for what? For WHOM? Only time will tell. more »

Any and all interested in learning a bit about the shop and how it works, come to the FREE shop open house! We walk you through the shop and show off our awesome facilities (silkscreen, letterpress, intaglio!) If you miss it this month, don’t worry!
