According to the Rhode Island International Film Festival, William Shatner will not be on hand to collect his humanitarian award as previously announced.

“We realize that many of Shatner’s fans will be disappointed that he won’t be coming to the festival this summer,” commented RIIFF’s Executive Director, George T. Marshall.  “We are currently in discussions with his agent to bring him in at a later date during the year. We appreciate the patience and understanding that his local fan base has shown in light of his sudden and unexpected decision.”

All online sales will be promptly refunded and each purchaser will be receiving an email confirmation. Processed phone orders will also be refunded and each purchaser will receive confirmation via phone or email. The movie William Shatner’s Gonzo Ballet is still on the schedule for Thursday at 8:30pm, preceded by a Q&A with the choreographer. (You could just go anyway — I suspect RIIFF will be taking a bit of hit on this.)
