Heroes, Gossip Girl boppers make silly election vids

Yup, that’s Heroes Co-Star Hayden Panatierre (sp.?) being all pottymouthed. Perhaps even more hilarious is this ad which is actually going on TV, I think, starring some of the kids from Gossip Girl, which I am not cool enough to watch.

SNL’s take on the VP Debate was arguably better than the real thing. Not only does Tina Fey’s Palin get better and better, but I’m shocked that the writers could get this much mileage out of Biden. Also, Queen Latifah. Nuff said.

MTV Awards Tonight

The MTV Awards are tonight, and I might watch them while I do my laundry, although they’re usually kinda boring and I don’t usually like any of the bands that play it. And giving out awards to videos seems kind of silly, when MTV devotes 4% of its programming to videos these days.
But anyway. I like a good video, even if I have to go to the internet to watch it in poor quality on silly Youtube. Most of this year’s nominees are totally lame and ridiculous, but I thought I’d present them all to you anyway:

Naomi Klein takes it to FOX News on Off Shore Drilling

Off Shore Drilling in the Alaskan wildlife preserve–it’s a bad idea. It’s not a short term fix, because we won’t see an effect on oil prices for another 5 to 10 and as long as were looking at long term solutions why don’t we, you know, do something that’ll keep the polar ice caps from melting? Here’s my girl Naomi Klein taking it to the right-wing claptrap at FOX News. Get ‘em girl!
I agree with Al Gore. We need a grassroots movement to fight against the corporate interests which have stuck us with climate change.

Dept. Of Holy Crap: Last Night’s “Lost”

Most people writing about last night’s Lost are describing it as a letdown, and I’m not sure why. Some pretty awesome stuff happened and although there were no major gun battles or bloodletting, like last week’s episode, it was still a pretty good one. I’ll discuss after the jump, so as not to annoy those who’ve Tivo’d it. more »

Wow, good Lost last night, eh? If you count the last episode from like, 4 weeks ago you witnessed the death of Rousseau, which was pretty shocking in itself because I always felt she’d be someone who sticks around ’til the end, Carl, who I also thought they were grooming into a main character and most incredibly Rousseau and Ben’s daughter! This was a major surprise, who else thought she was becoming an A-list character? Anyone else? No? Whatever, the hell with you all. Also about a half dozen no-name survivors got gunned down but who cares about them because they didn’t even have names. There was fat guy in red shirt, library-lady in khaki shorts, etc… more »

Mario Bros TV Show: Classic, Racist or both?

Remember the Mario Brothers TV show? Damn that was good. And the theme song gets no credit for being the first Nintendo/hip-hop mash-up in history. But wait, not to be a PC thug about it, but since Ariel got it started aren’t these characters [played by Lou Albano and Danny Wells] just a bit racist? U B the Judgez. more »
Kristen Shaal Is A Very Funny Lady

Who in their right mind doesn’t love Kristen Shaal on Flight Of The Concords as the scary/obsessive superfan who’s constantly trying to sleep with Jemaine and Bret? Or maybe you caught her awesome webshow on SuperDeluxe, Penelope: Princess Of Pets. Well, now she’s on The Daily Show, and although this bit went a little over the audience’s heads, (they’re not ready for her) it takes an excellent, brainy Mr. Show-esque turn at the end and she is clearly a genius.

Non-nerds, just skip right over this post. Nothing to see here…
Holy crap people. So last night’s episode wasn’t necessarily action-packed, but we got what we’ve been asking for since the finale of season 2 in the form of a wait-for-it…wait-for-it, it’s-fucking-Michael!!-reveal that was pretty surprising. We knew he’d be back but when that bombshell dropped it was well worth it and well done.
See, this is why I avoid all internet spoilers for Lost. I would have hated to have known this beforehand. In an episode that already gave out a lot of information, what with the freighter’s captain being surprisingly forthright about the faked Oceanic 815 wreck and their mission to find Ben and not rescue the survivors, it was nice for them to finally roll out the return of Michael. But the ending was the real shocker: Sun is one of the “Oceanic 6″ (we know all of them now), her baby was born healthy and she didn’t die or anything, they think Jin is dead, though he clearly isn’t, and Hurley looks good in a suit. Favorite part of the episode: Sun slapping the shit out of Juliette.

Damn you Internet! It’s a beautiful day out there; the sun is out, it’s bright and warm, birds are emerging from their winter cocoons and turning into beautiful butterflies. Or something. Anyway, it’s gorgeous outside, but what am I doing? Watching nine episodes of 30 Rock on Hulu, a new (-ish? who can tell anymore) site that lets you watch dozens of awesome shows at really high-quality streams with only little 30 second commercials here and there. Seriously, Internet, you need to stop inventing things. I have shit to do today. Go right now and watch the 30 Rock episode “Ludachristmas”. You’re welcome.
