I confess — I was a ska kid once.

And so I’m unduly psyched about this month’s Mighty Mighty Bosstones reunion. The usual stint at the Middle East, plus a one-day detour to Providence! (New Years eve, w/Zox.)

After an almost 4 year hiatus the best-dressed band from Boston (Dicky Barrett-Vocals, Joe Gittleman-Bass, Ben Carr-The Bosstone, Joe Sirois-Drums, Tim Burton-Saxophone, Roman Fleysher – Saxophone, Chris Rhodes-Trombone and Lawrence Katz-Guitar) are back with that infectious brand of fun only the Bosstones can deliver. The upcoming release from the MMB’s is indeed a DIY effort produced by Bosstone bass player Joe Gittleman. Medium Rare is filled with new tracks co-written by Barrett and Gittleman, as well as unreleased material and songs previously released only as Vinyl B-sides. Fittingly, the band has returned once again to its roots deciding to release it on independent label Big Rig Records December 2007.

December 2007 is shaping up to be a Mighty Mighty Bosstones fans dream as the band is also back with the “Hometown Throwdown” (already sold-out!) at The Middle East, kicking off on Wednesday, December 26th through Sunday, December 30th for a five-night stand.

The “Hometown Throwdown” is Boston’s biggest party of the holiday season featuring plastic Santas, dancing Menorahs and a holiday-themed backdrop adorning the stage. And of course, featuring a hard hitting, horn-driven, action packed five days of anthemic ska-punk delivered with care and conviction by The Mighty Mighty Bosstones as well as many other music performances…you never really know whose going to show up.

Upcoming Mighty Mighty Bosstones Shows:

  • Dec 26 Hometown Throwdown Middle East Cambridge, MA
  • Dec 27 Hometown Throwdown Middle East Cambridge, MA
  • Dec 28 Hometown Throwdown Middle East Cambridge, MA
  • Dec 29 Hometown Throwdown Middle East Cambridge, MA
  • Dec 30 Hometown Throwdown Middle East Cambridge, MA
  • Dec 31 New Year’s Eve Show Lupo’s Providence, RI

Someday I Suppose” is a pretty good song to wake up to:
