Farm Fresh RI is currently in the process of planning its outdoor farmers’ markets for the coming season. There have been some requests to move the Downtown Farmers’ Market from its past location between the Skating Rink and the Biltmore in Kennedy Plaza.
We are still in the process of making concrete plans for this season. The Downtown Market will still be every Friday, from 11am – 2pm. But we need YOU, our constituents, to tell us where you want the farmers’ market in Downtown Providence. There are a few locations in the running:
- RISD’s Market Square
(Along the river, near the RISD Auditorium) - Turk’s Head Plaza, Financial District
(Across from the Turk’s Head Building, in front of Starbucks) - Westminster Park
(Across from Tazza on Westminster St.) - City Hall Park
(Same location as years past, between the Kennedy Plaza Skating Rink and the Biltmore.)
There are a couple of factors to focus on – walkability and foot traffic, parking for customers and vendors, adequate seating for picnics, convenience, and cityscape.
