Arizona and Florida banned gay marriage yesterday. As of thirty-eight minutes ago, California was still undecided. San Francisco didn’t legalize prostitution. And, weirdest of all, Arkansas banned unmarried people from adopting. Not just the gay ones, mind you, but all unmarried people. Sorry, orphans!
The update on California is not good news, either. I was saddened to learn that 70% of African-American voters, and more than half of Latino voters, supported Proposition 8. How can one vote to support both hope and hate on the same day?!
