Tomorrow: Pecha Kucha, Volume #2 second edition of Providence Pecha Kucha arrives tomorrow:

Announcing the 2nd Pecha Kucha night in Providence! April 22nd is Earth Day. The theme (fittingly) is green, and the venue (also fittingly) is the sustainably designed 28 Wolcott Space. Shmoozing at 7p, presentations at 8p, and shmoozing throughout.

And what the hell is this all about?

Each presenter is allowed 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds each – giving 6 minutes 40 seconds of fame before the next presenter is up. This keeps presentations concise, the interest level up, and gives more people the chance to show.

Great mix of conservation and sustainability themes for Earth Day! The first pecha kucha (pih-CHA kih-CHA, not PET-cha KUT-cha) had a full hour of schmoozing between sets, and lost much of its audience. Last night’s started later than intended and still got 11 presenters done in just under two hours because there wasn’t so much schmoozing in between.

I still noticed a drop after Christine West’s third-to-last presentation, though. It’s great that people stuck around for hers, possibly due to the mention here on the Dose, but presenters Eva and Wayne got a bit screwed at the end. Maybe the presenters’ names, titles and brief topics can be distributed in advance so the audience is too excited about what’s coming up to sneak off in a lull?

  2. The pecha kucha site seems to be down.
Does one have to pay to get in?
Is there a bar of sorts?
Sounds like a fun time so more details would be nice.
