I suppose Bastille Day is as good a time as any to announce the end of Louis XIV, sort of. (I know I know, it was Louis XVI, but who’s counting?) This glammy San Diego band did seem to have one frontman too many (Jason Hill, Brian Karscig) and according to their myspace page the two parted ways earlier this month. The split seems to have been amicable enough and Karscig does not rule out future LXIV projects. Meanwhile, Karscig has been recording up in Cambridge with Anthony Saffery of Cornershop, a couple of Killers, and some Dirty Vegas as The Nervous Wreckords (the Louis XIV chromosome is strongly dominant — try ‘Classy Girls’). It sure was fun while it lasted. ‘Paper Doll’ is one of the best songs ever.
