Providence College grad Karen Ignagni is the subject of this subtle approach of bringing back good old insurance industry vilification. If it ain’t broke…
from Ocean State Action:
When Big Insurance CEOs return to Washington on Tuesday to plan how to warp health care reform to pad their profit margins, we’re going to be ready for them.
President Obama has just called for Congress to finish reform right and send him a health care bill by Easter — and Congress is already gearing up to meet that deadline.
But the insurance companies and their allies in Congress are gearing up too — word has just leaked to the press about a secret last-ditch attempt to defeat health care once and for all.
We’ve come too far to let Big Insurance kill health care in the home stretch. So we’re taking the fight right to their doorstep by crashing their conference in D.C. next week and calling on Congress to finish reform right.
That’s right, Ocean State Action and SEIU 1199 are getting you a bus ride to DC! Join the protest of the America’s Health Insurance Plans conference which will include thousands of activists from around the country. The bus leaves at 11pm next Monday night, March 8th and will return around midnight the following night — with an action in DC around noon Tuesday, March 9th.
Nationally known figures such as Howard Dean, Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters, author Barbara Ehrenreich, and Common Cause President Bob Edgar will be there to participate in civil disobedience (Note: those who go on the bus from RI will NOT be getting arrested).
Please send along these details to anyone you think might be interested, with a request that they reply to me at libby@oceanstateaction.org or call 463-5368 to join the bus. We’re asking for a token commitment of $10.
