Registration Deadline To Vote In Primaries — Saturday

register to vote From the Secretary of State’s office,

State law requires Rhode Islanders to register to vote at least 30 days before the September 14th Democratic and Republican primaries. To be eligible to register to vote, you must turn 18 by November 2nd and be a resident of Rhode Island and a U.S. citizen. You must be at least 18 years old to vote in the primary.

Although the August 14 deadline is on a Saturday, we will open our office at 148 West River Street, Providence, from 9am to 1pm to accommodate last-minute registrations.

You can also download a voter registration form from our website. Your completed and signed form must be received by your local board of canvassers by August 14th in order to make the deadline.

There are several important contests. For instance, if you want to vote for David Segal to represent Rhode Island in Washington, in the all-important democratic primary on September 14th, make sure you are registered! It’s not too late.
