The big news on the political street yesterday was that the state’s powerful environmental organization Clean Water Action weighed in on the Providence Mayor’s race and endorsed Angel Taveras for Mayor.
This is a huge pick-up for Taveras because of the high number of city voters — especially in West Broadway and the East Side — who care about the environment, transit and building the green economy.
As you may know, Clean Water Action is a national organization of 1.2 million members working to empower people to take action to protect America’s waters, build healthy communities and to make democracy work for all of us. For 36 years Clean Water Action has succeeded in winning some of the nation’s most important environmental protections through grassroots organizing, expert policy research and political advocacy focused on holding elected officials accountable to the public.
