For Mayor: Angel Taveras

I am writing to urge voters of the Dose to vote for Angel Taveras for Mayor of Providence in tomorrow’s Democratic primary.

Why vote for Angel?

Well, first consider the coalition that has lined up behind Angel: Clean Water Action. The Phoenix. Providence en Espanol. The SEIU and the UCFW. The RIFuture blog. City Council members Wood, Jackson, Yurdin, Luna and Tejada. Rep. Ajello and Senators Perry & Pichardo. Former Common Cause director Phil West. Former U.S. Attorney Meg Curran. Daily Dose favorite (and future State Representative) Chris Blazejewski. Daily Dose founder Beth Comery. Activists like Matt Jerzyk, Victor Cappellan, Brian Hull, Russ Conway and Karina Wood. The list goes on and on.

Second, consider Angel’s policy priorities: Angel was the first candidate to release a comprehensive jobs & economic development program that focuses on small, neighborhood businesses. He’s the only candidate to go beyond the rhetoric when it comes to public education and propose specific action steps to improve our City’s schools. And he’s the only candidate who has taken a clear stand against the cronyism and corruption of Providence’s political past by refusing campaign contributions from city employees.

Angel’s the clear choice for moving Providence forward, for continuing the progress our City has made in the last eight years.

But he won’t win without your help.

The campaign needs volunteers from 6:30 AM to 9:00 PM. You can make calls, you can go door to door, you can greet voters at the polls, you can check voters inside the poll. There’s no shortage of ways to get involved.

Please email me at HelpAngel@AngelForProvidence.com or call me at 401-484-1244 to sign up now. Even if you can give 2-3 hours before work or 2-3 hours after work, your volunteerism is needed. All campaign volunteers will be given priority access to our Victory Party starting at 9:00 PM on Election Night.
