Handy Re-Introduces Marriage Equality

arthur handy Art’s official re-introduced gay marriage. (There he is, in a photo by Ryan Conaty.)

Here’s an article from earlier in the day about where things stand.  He had 27 co-sponsors at that point, but I’m sure he’s collected several more since.  Passage in the House is almost a sure thing, but the question’s still open in the Senate.  (Though plenty of Reps and Senators who haven’t signed on, and who haven’t announced their decisions publicly, have made it clear off-record that they’d vote for it when it comes up.)

MERI’s the place to go if you’re looking for ways to help.

Rob, so glad we agree on this. I assume you’d also agree that despite any legislated changes, the right to vote is, has been, and always will be exclusively for white men.

  2. Marriage is, has been and always will be the union of one man and one woman. Nothing the Rhode Island legislature does will ever change that.

It’s good to know that RI has at least one elected official with courage to stand up for his convictions. Art is RI’s progressive hero.
