February 5th marks the grand opening of the newly expanded photo program at AS220!
Since 1995 AS220 has provided affordable access to traditional black and white photo facilities through the Paul Krot Community Darkroom, the only public access darkroom in Rhode Island.
With the opening of the newly renovated Mercantile Block at AS220 the photo program will now include digital photo editing and printing, photo framing and mating and artwork photography, providing a full service photo facility to Providence photographers and the photo community at large. Join local photographers, current volunteers and AS220 alumni for a special “50/50 Show and Sale” featuring work from photographers Stewart Martin, darkroom founder and AS220 Youth Photo Manager Scott Lapham, Key Members Scott Alario, Kelly Phillips, Danny Floyd, Norlan Olivio and Ariele Affigne, AS220 Youth Photo Instructor Miguel Rosario and AS220 Photo Manager Krystal Grow.
Sales of all artwork will be split with 50% supporting the artists and 50% supporting the purchase of a studio grade strobe lighting kit that will be available for public use in the new photo facility.
Guests can also try their luck in a “Classy Raffle,” with a chance to win a spot in one of AS220 Photo’s digital or traditional photo classes, see live performances from special, surprise musical guests, and enjoy photo-themed cocktail creations from new AS220 bar manager Noah Anacleto and refreshments from AS220 Foo(d). Come see what AS220 Photo has to offer.
