Providence Mayor Angel Taveras comes out on top in a recent Brown University poll, with 52% of respondents giving him an “excellent” or “good” job approval rating. Taveras edges out all other elected officials, even the unflappable Senator Reed, “making Taveras the most popular politician in Rhode Island by Brown’s methodology” according to WPRI’s Ted Nesi.
Surely some of Angel’s support comes from the Mayor’s new effort to stamp out corruption in city government. Angel recently signed new laws that require lobbyists to register with the city and that allow the city to revoke pensions for former employees who render dishonorable service to the city.
