(But you don’t have to shake their hands. They’ll probably be sweaty from rockin’ out.)
Beth mentioned this already, but there’s been a time change since Monday, and reminders never hurt.
Local rootsy rockers The ‘Mericans will celebrate their album release tonight at The Met with support from Boston’s Scarce and Providence’s Tig & Bean.
“So Late It Hurts” is the third for the band’s Merican Recordings label (clever!) and the 10th album for frontman Chris Daltry, formerly of Purple Ivy Shadows.
To mark the milestone, the band raised funds to release the album in multiple formats: digital, CD, and vinyl, on which it sounds particularly amazing. I tried to pick a favorite song and couldn’t–though maybe I lean a little extra toward “Badlands at Sunset,” and seeing them perform “Car” live is a thing of beauty–but then I read this insightful Providence Phoenix article in which Daltry explains the songs were meant to work together as a whole. Just like the band, who unanimously dedicated the album in memory of drummer Pete Lima’s mother who passed away in February.
This murky pic of The ‘Mericans is from a Roots Hoot house concert earlier this year. Don’t worry, they’re hotter in person.
$12, tonight (Friday, 6/17), 7 p.m., The Met, 1005 Main Street (Hope Artiste Village), Pawtucket
