Westminster Looking Kind Of Cool

westminster street There is a nice clump of stores and eateries establishing itself on Westminster Street. The Small Point Café, which offers sandwiches and baked goods in addition to coffee and espresso, shares an entrance with the new Korean-Japanese restaurant Sura, favorably reviewed by Gail Ciampa. On the other side of Small Point are Modern Love and Queen of Hearts — two awesome boutiques with unique shoes, bags, women’s apparel, jewelry. (Modern Love has a shoe sale going on now.) Right up the street is Tazza and across the way is the newer addition OneWay Gallery. And the honey locusts have grown tall creating a lovely shady bower. Next time you go to ‘Movies on the Block’ check it out. The August Providence Monthly has highlighted this interesting stretch and likens it to Boston’s Newbury Street and you can just about see that now. Maybe we’re finally getting somewhere.

Sushi bar at Sura.  A review by Linda Beaulieu in Providence Monthly has me drooling for the Sura roll. Must go back.

Some amazing deals at Modern Love right now.

  1. There are no current plans to turn Westminster into a two way street. Weybossett is under way now and Empire Street is on deck.

  2. i think you might be thinking of weybosett in front of ppac which is becoming a two way right now and the trees were already removed. i haven’t read of any plans for westminster to become two way.

  3. But aren’t all the trees going to be uprooted when Westminster is made two-way?
